Second Treatment

 Second treatment:

After reviewing our first treatment, We decided that we had perhaps been too expectant of ourselves, and would not be able to achieve what we had set out too.
We came up with the new idea of using a Song which is written and presented by one of our friends. The song we are going to do is a set of ‘Bars’ which are based on the topic of Middle class. We are going to film in near enough the same locations to that of what was in our first plan. However, we will not be filming a journey for this video; we will be shooting the different verses in different locations such as…

·       The beach

·       A wood

·       In a car

·       In a car park

·       In town

·       In the countryside

The narrative of the video will to be to try and shoot in places that coincide with being middle class. We will try and keep a middle class Mise-en-scene throughout. Although we may touch on other classes (lower and higher). No faces will be shown in our video, this is to hide identities which will give a certain edge to the video. All people present in the making of the video will be wearing masks (the main character will be wearing a plain drama mask, whereas everyone else will wear a mask of their choice). The rest of the costume will be casual, stereotypical teenage wear e.g. hoodies, jeans, polo’s, shirts etc.
The pace of the video will stay about the same throughout, this is due to the beat and tune of the song being similar near enough the whole time the song is being played. There will be pauses in the lyrics of the song, were we will see the actors running around and going wild in their masks. These clips will then be edited after collecting all of the footage; this will change them to either slow or fast motion causing a slight change to the pace.

We are going to shoot in the day light and in the dark as this will vary the Mise-en-scene slightly and cause a certain tension. When we shoot in the dark we will use a small bright blue LED to highlight the masks, by doing this only a certain amount of the mask will be present.

Treatment

Our video is going to be set in various locations. At the beginning of the video there will be a dull tone as we film the group walking through the alleyways in town, we will use different shots so the mise-en-scene is taken in fully by the consumer. The tone of the video will change from dull to bright at the end of the video. We hope to film on a dull dreary day so that the narrative is more present and clearer. Each verse to the song will be shot in a different location as this will create more of a narrative. Some of our footage will be captured within the car we are travelling in, the footage from this will create a bridge between our different locations. Throughout our video there will be one character who addresses the camera although they will not be miming the lyrics. The other characters in the video will be in most if not all of the shots, but they will be acting as if they do not know the camera is actually there.

All of the people used in our footage will be dressed in clothes that fit the stereotypical punk look, each person will have props such as cigarettes, alcohol and substances ( although these will not be real). The people used will start off feeling down and as the locations change and the tone brightens, they will become happier and laughing. They will be acting out having a laugh and messing around. Throughout the song certain words are exaggerated more than others; these words will be either written in a bold text on a board or spray painted in suitable places. At the start of the video, after walking through town, there will be a shot of the group either standing, crouching or cochin on an escalator going up. At the end of the video the group will be shot walking off into the sunset along the beach. After this shot at the end instrumental of the song the group will be shot once again on the escalator, however this time coming down acting the same. Everyone will then disperse out of the building. This will illustrate the fact that punk did happen and everything is now back to normal. After collecting the footage we will edit it so that the speed is changed to slower or to quicker. The shot at the end will be in a slower motion and will then change to normal speed as they come back down the escalator and walk off.
